Success Stories
Gerber Scientific of Hartford, Ct needed a manufacturer who could machine beams and plates up to 80" long for a brand new project which had already experienced multiple delays. The project needed immediate assistance since systems had already been ordered. BZ Metalworks was successful in finding the proper supplier for the job. Once the supplier was chosen, Gerber approached Bill Zeoli about finding a proper plating supplier who could do a very special process to reduce burnout in the parts from a high temperature heat lamp in the machine. Even though the plating services are not our specialty, BZ Metalworks investigated and finally secured a souce in New York who could do the job.
Today, Gerber's Solara system sets the standard in the ink jet technology phase of the graphics industry.
Tokyo Electron Massachusetts was an offshoot of one of the world's leading semi conductor capital equipment manufacturers.
They were charged with building a series of etching machines to rival those of Tokyo Electron's strongest competitors and complement the other products the company offered.
To meet the very strict Japanese standard for quality, TEM turned to BZ Metalworks to find a supplier capable of machining large castings with very tight tolerances.
Also, the supplier had to work very closely with both the polishing and plating houses to ensure first class finished goods. Once again BZ Metalworks was successful. Successful enough, in fact, that we were invited to participate several times in the Tokyo Electron annual meetings at US headquarters in Silicon Valley and Austin, TX
Temptronics, in Sharon, MA was in a bind when their enclosure supplier could not keep up with demand in either delivery or quality.
They turned to BZ Metalworks. We introduced them to a sheet metal fabrication shop which was able to manufacture and deliver over 120 enclosures within the year with not a single reject for quality.
A systematic delivery schedule was put in place so that Temptronics never had too much inventory in house, yet was able to pull the next enclosure into the production line as necessary.
Setra, a Danaher Company, of Boxford, MA had a longstanding quality problem with a integral part of their system. The supplier of record had a fall out rate of 30-40% over a three year period, all the while blaming the design of the part. BZ Metalworks found a supplier equipped to handle the job and after design and performance reviews with the Setra engineering team, accepted an order for 10,000 pieces over a one year time frame. After three months, the demand fell off. Why? Well the BZ Metalworks supplier had delivered over 2000 parts without a single reject!
Today that supplier makes over two dozen Setra parts and is consistantly praised as one of their top performers.
